Resetting your password
If you cannot remember your CropWatch password, you can set a new one yourself from the sign-in page. It takes a few minutes and needs only access to the email inbox you sign in with.
On this page
CropWatch sends the reset link to the email address on your account, so you need to be able to open that inbox. If the address belongs to a colleague or to someone who has left, ask your company's CropWatch administrator or CropWatch support for help instead.
There is no "change password" setting inside CropWatch. If you know your current password and simply want a new one, sign out and follow the same steps below.
Go to the CropWatch sign-in page. Under the Sign in button there are two buttons side by side. Press the one on the right, Forgot your password?
You do not need to fill in the email and password boxes on this page first.
Type the email address you sign in with into the EMAIL box, then press Send Reset Link.
If a red message says Security verification failed. Please try again., the page's reCAPTCHA check did not pass. Reload the page and try once more. If you see Unable to sign in right now. Please try again., you most likely asked for two links within a minute; wait a minute and press the button again.
The page changes to Check Your Email. It says the same thing whether or not an account exists for that address; CropWatch does this on purpose so nobody can use the page to find out who has an account. Seeing this page does not confirm that you typed the address correctly.
Look for an email from CropWatch with the password reset link. It usually arrives within a few minutes. If it is not in your inbox, check the spam or junk folder.
Use the newest email. Each time you press Send Reset Link, the new link replaces the one before it. If you asked more than once, only the most recent email works, and each link works only once.
Press the link in the email. It opens a CropWatch page titled Set New Password in your browser, with two empty boxes: PASSWORD and CONFIRM PASSWORD.
You have 10 minutes from pressing the link to pressing Update Password, and you must finish in the same browser window the link opened. If you run out of time, ask for a new link.
Type your new password into PASSWORD. A list of requirements appears underneath, and each line turns from red to green once your password meets it. The password needs all five:
- At least 6 characters
- A lowercase letter (a to z)
- An uppercase letter (A to Z)
- A number (0 to 9)
- A symbol, such as ! @ # $ or %
In the picture, the password so far has letters but no number or symbol, so those two lines are still red.
Type the same password again into CONFIRM PASSWORD. When the two match, ✓ Passwords match appears in green. The Update Password button stays greyed out until every requirement is green and both boxes match.
Press Update Password. CropWatch takes you back to the sign-in page. Sign in with your email address and the new password.
If your browser or a password manager saved your old password, update the saved entry now so it does not fill in the old one next time.
The link opened the sign-in page instead of Set New Password. The link had already been used, a newer link had replaced it, or it had expired. Go back to Forgot your password? and ask for a new one.
"Failed to update password. The link may have expired." More than 10 minutes passed between opening the link and pressing Update Password. Ask for a new link and set the password straight away.
No email arrived. Check the spam or junk folder and give it a few more minutes. Then check the address: it must be exactly the one you sign in with, and the Check Your Email page will not tell you if it was wrong. Ask for one more link, and if that one does not arrive either, contact CropWatch support.
The Update Password button stays grey. One of the requirements is not green yet, or the two boxes do not match. A common miss is the symbol: letters and numbers alone are not enough.
Your computer may still have your old sign-in saved. Browsers and password managers often remember the previous username and password and fill them in for you. If sign-in fails after a reset, clear the boxes and type your email address and new password by hand, then update or delete the saved entry so it holds the latest details.
